you go to the hedge and open your pocket knife, cut a thin stick and sharpen both ends. 9" is about right.

 

Walk back into the field and pick up dead bird. push stick in head, under the chin and push other end of stick in mud at about 45 degrees. tidy bird up.

 

 

why do you need cradles, just more to carry. if your on standing crop then why use dead birds. i have noticed no difference in the way birds come in when using half shells.

 

 

bamboo skewers work as well. you can get 100 for a £1
