I have a lanber sporting deluxe.

The stock finish is a bit crappy, and Im thinking about stripping it down and having it oiled.

Question......

How do you get the stock off the action.................I cant see any screws etc etc.

Is there a big bolt/screw that is hidden under the butt pad........can it be done yourself or should it be a case of get the gunsmith to do it....

ive done airrifles before but not done 12gs...

if you get a philips screwdriver, coat the tip with oil, run the tip over the butt padfrom top to bottom through the centreline of the pad with a little pressure, you will find it sink into a hidden slit, one top one bottom, when you have one of these " woods screws " out, the pad will swivel out of the way exposing a larger hole, this has the retension screw sunk in, make sure you have the right head and length required, you dont want to slip out andstrip the screw, hold the stock between your legs and apply downward pressure as you turn, the screw will break free and release the action from the stock, dont hit the hell out of it to get it apart, again holding the action in your hand and the stock in you legs, pull to release , if no joy the reverse turn upside down so trigger gaurd is up and gently tap the gaurd with a small block of wood to release, dont lose the washer on the draw bolt, add a little lube to the thread before assembly, good luck buddy , practice makes parts . :good::good:
