my mate rang me friday saying a women was watching a big fox killing and eating one of his lambs,so he went to the spot and found one of his lambs with no head on,the picture below, this is the first time in years this has happend to be honest,me my self i think the fox has found the lamb dead then had ago at it as there seems to be no blood around the lambs neck, but i could be wrong, any way me and my lamping budy tim went out last night, the field was just full of sheep and lambs when we got there as usual thinking is that one, any body thats done it knows the score as when you see a fox you cant take the dam shot as theres sheep every were, after a good 15 minutes calling one came like an express train,it see us and stood still at around the 200 yard mark,i was already on the floor ready for the shot, so the ppc dropped it in its tracks, was a very little fat vixen, not in cub thow, later that night we found an earth with cubs in but thats another time, cheers simon...

Had an interesting comment the other day that missing heads alone are more likely to be badgers?! Anyone else heard this? I'd always out them down to foxes?!

Jaw pressure between foxes and badgers differ some what... Could be truth in what you've been told i suppose.

Quite possible. I'm not doubting that a fox had a hand in the matter but I would have thought that a fox would have carried it away to it's earth, especially a at this time of the year with cubs to feed - Depending on the size of the lamb of course!
