Highbird70
Surely if you phone BASC, they should be able to point you in the right direction....well I hope
PERCE
Try phoning round rural vet practices, not all will but I'd rate your chances higher than if you phone any of the pet clinics. If you find one, how about giving him all your trade?
delburt0
There out there, I've found a ex vet with a docking cert that comes to your house £10 a pup docking certs supplied and she does the procedure better than any of the 3 vets practices I have ever been too and there is no distress to the mother or pups with traveling
DJL4
A lot of the receptionists and some vet nurses in vet's nowadays take it on themselves to say they're practice refuse to dock but if you actually speak to the qualified vet many have no problems. al4x
after all they don't really know without seeing you that you aren't an anti, best people to ask are local working dog owners. We're lucky here my vet does and a few others locally but its another reason I would stay with this vet.

If you find one, how about giving him all your trade? I definitely will if i find one, am absolutely sick of pet vets There out there, I've found a ex vet with a docking cert that comes to your house £10 a pup docking certs supplied and she does the procedure better than any of the 3 vets practices I have ever been too and there is no distress to the mother or pups with traveling that sounds ideal........... wonder if she fancies a trip to Liverpool

DaveL I had quite a barney with my normal vet over it tbh. Refused to dock a pup relatively painlessly but will quite happily perform an amputation on an adult dogs tail, cost £500 !!!! Caring profession my ****......... care about their bank balances and thats it

Caring profession my ****......... care about their bank balances and thats it different matter alltogether, lots of vets do disagree with docking which ultimately is their right. Amputation of a damaged tail is a health matter and done for a reason
malantone
different matter alltogether, lots of vets do disagree with docking which ultimately is their right. Amputation of a damaged tail is a health matter and done for a reason they`re going to have a fair bit of adult work if they refuse to dock working pups, I`ve seen some bloody sore tails after a days work. Caring profession my ****......... care about their bank balances and thats it Totally agree with you there to some vets refusing to dock is a possible £500 job in the bank for the future! i have recently changed vets as i got sick of the sales pitch health care from either the vet herself or the receptionists, in the past when i have listened to them on the phone while i have been sat in the waiting room its sickening to listen to them pressurise someone on the phone who obviously is short on cash but worried about their pet :(
al4x
they`re going to have a fair bit of adult work if they refuse to dock working pups, I`ve seen some bloody sore tails after a days work. ultimately though they have their principles and a lot of dogs they see are docked for cosmetic purposes only, generally though ring round enough or contact the council for docked breeds and you can find vets who will do them. Paul223
where abouts are you spanj? my local vet did all mine last year no problem, just need to provide a leter to state the reason for docking and a sgc they do get all our bussiness though (less the game birds as that is specialized)
spanj
different matter alltogether, lots of vets do disagree with docking which ultimately is their right. Amputation of a damaged tail is a health matter and done for a reason suppose its just a coincidence that its considerably more profitable and almost a certainty at some point inevery genuine working dogs life. spanj
Well, just been told by a north west vet(wont name the practice) that they are in a world of **** if they get reported to RCVS as they have effectively banned docking !!!! I appreciate the guys honesty but the hypocrisy astounds and outrages me at the same time. So much for the vet (and us come to that) having a choice. Hopefully I'll get a decent contact or 2 from the PW massiv !!

I think he is confused with cosmetic docking and genuine working dog docking. Like i said ALL the vets i have asked around here do it for working dogs and it is about £20 per pup and must be done within 5 days of them being born (including the day they are born)
