bicykillgaz
I don't think you need to legally do anything till it comes to selling it, personally though I'd want it proofing for peace of mind.
HDAV
my guess is it needs to made by an RFD and sent for proof at the proof house. http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1968/27 3Business and other transactions with firearms and ammunition.(1)A person commits an offence if, by way of trade or business, he—(a)manufactures, sells, transfers, repairs, tests or proves any firearm or ammunition to which section 1 of this Act applies, or a shot gun; F4. . .(B)exposes for sale or transfer, or has in his possession for sale, transfer, repair, test or proof any such firearm or ammunition, or a shot gun, F5or©sells or transfers an air weapon, exposes such a weapon for sale or transfer or has such a weapon in his possession for sale or transfer, without being registered under this Act as a firearms dealer. matt fieldcrafter-uk
Will the proof house stamp the barrel with serial number etc for me ? I'd want it proofing defo . Thanks fellas
HDAV
YOu would need to put a serial on it same as action with a "b" at the end would do........ defo need to be an RFD to make a shotgun, a barrel isnt technically a controlled part unlike Sec1, an engineer who holds an SGC would be a good idea otherwise they can't have the action and barrel together (required to fit it i would think...) and really needs an RFD to send to proof house for proofing. deershooter
It all depends if its a busness or trade ie done for proffit if you want to do it for yourself of a favor for a mate its fine and doesnt need proofing untill you sell it how ever it would be sensable to have it proved straight away Deershooter Edited May 18, 2013 by deershooter
Vince Green
Strangely, back in the days of the Birmingham gun trade, none of the jobbers who made the guns were licenced. They were all self employed one man bands who literally rented a bench in a back street workshop. They made the guns, the shop whose name appeared on the action just placed an order and sold it when it was made.
