gazbev
I have been offered the above 32g cartridges in number 7 for 200quid, I normally only shoot 6s for pigeon but a friend told me they were normally 70 quid more than this and would pattern better so would be ok for pigeon, What do you think? Or stick with the clear pigeons?
aga man
personally i would snap his hand off. far better than clear pigeon for pigeon decoying and a bargain. just my opinion.
fenboy
That is a very good price for that cartridge , 7s in my opinion is perhaps the best size shot for decoying , not that I use it often now days as its a job to get a cheap shell in a true 7 size. You may be able to buy a cheaper cartridge and they will still do the job , but the grand prix normally sell for £275-£280 a thousand so at £200 they are a good deal. Floating Chamber
I remember when 'Grand Prix' were the bog standard shell from Eley. They were 14 shillings for 25! The bee knees were Alphamax and Gastight. These were 21 shillings and 22 shillings respectively. Nothing special about them these days either. They will do the job! Alycidon
Grand Prix are one of the best cartridges for shooting wildlife that you can get. I have used them on and off since 1964 approx. 32gr of 7s are a bit unusual which probably explains the low price but feed them through a semi or an O/U and they will kill fineout to 35 yards and a shade further through a bit of choke. There is a school of thought that true cylinder and 7 shot is he best combination you can get. I did try it through a skeet gun for a couple of years, far more runners that I was happy with but at close range they worked well.
