steveyg
My Father is coming out with me tomorrow and wants to bring a 2mtr x 2mtr pop up gazebo (£31 from tesco). I think its to big however he has a number of valid comments: Will give good shade from the sun (or rain ...) 360 degree visibility (if we set up in the middle of the field) with good camo will give good standing shooting opportunities plenty of room for two guns (and kit) set up in a minute ( if no ropes required to hold it down if its windy) Has anyone else tried these?? Don't tell me he is right again....
TIGHTCHOKE
Steve take some pictures! A friend of mine got hold of a toilet tent as a quick hide, anything's worth a try! One last question; Is your Father bringing the BBQ along?
welsh1
And as the pigeon flys over your head or shoot over your left shoulder you will curse the gazebo as you cannot take a shot because there is a big roof in the way. Much better with a tried and tested normal hide where you can see all around and up above you,if he wants shade buy him a bush hat,or just raise one side of the hide so it throws a shadow over you,or better still find a nice shaded hedge. Or take the gazebo, but pack some deck chairs and a bbq, make a day of it. Lol.
steveyg
BBQ..I feel like packhorse already with all the other kit I have to carry.... I am a stone lighter than when i started shooting.. I will give it a go however will take poles as well so can set up another hide if required
steveyg
He just noticed the post and said if it doesn't work he can always give it my mom as a birthday present next week..tight or what
The Essex Hunter
You need every advantage to swing through a bird…by restricting your over head and side angle shooting it could prove frustrating to say the least. Leave it in the place it should be and that is the garden….. TEH

Mungler
I'd give it a go and take a knife to cut new panels out as maybe required

Mr pigeon
If the shooting is quiet, any passing cars can be ushered under the gazebo and you can repair chipped windscreens ;-)

steveyg
Listened to the feedback...no gazebo Great start to the day..4 birds in 20 mins..after some advice from a couple of pw members actually remembered to keep both eyes open when pulling the trigger For the first time I had 4 birds drop like bricks..what a feeling..caught them with the full pattern..no 2nd shot needed.. went quiet however finished with 3 woodies and 3 JD's...really enjoyed the day ...how good are flappers..!! Now I have my own permission I can really focus on improving my field craft .. Found a great flight line...need to ensure I make the most of it should be a great summer... B) Always good when you get a few under your belt, don,t be afraid to move if its not happening where you are,or adjust your pattern if they are shying away.. Well done for not taking the gazebo, and getting some birds.
