plank06
Hi all. Just wondering if anyone could give me some information on the costs etc of starting up reloading .410, as most already know there's not a great deal of choice out there so making my own seems like a plan. What sort of kit would you need to get you started? Iv just bought a hushpower .410 so the loads would be for that. I love it that much the Beretta 12bore has taken a back seat! Floating Chamber
There's quite a few posts on this. Use the search button.
plank06
I already have mate, but the posts didn't really help me understand from a reloading beginners point if view exactly what kit I need. If possible a list with all the different parts needed would be good .

alendil
i did think about reloading for .410 but recently start using gamebore carts and found box for 5.20 gbp. so i dont think there is point in reloading.
robbiep
I've done a little bit of reloading for my .410, just out of interest. But with the cost of components for what I would want to load, it works out almost as cheap to buy cartridges. I only handloaded, and only fibre wads (I hate plaswads). Now I can buy Eley 2.5" No. 6 for £54 per slab, or £195 per thou, it really stopped making sense to reload
plank06
I think id only bother small scale hand loading. Just to try some different loads in the hushpower, thought about a load if 7 shot to try and get a few more in the pattern. Thanks for the info so far lads! Andy H
If you are going for subsonics go for larger shot as at the reduced speed smaller shot sizes will lose energy rapidly , Stick to 6 shot or larger to retain as much ftlb energy as possible for clean kill's. Around here you will be lucky to pick a box of 65mm 410's for less than 6-50. Edited June 9, 2013 by Andy H
alendil
in my mossberg hushpower size 7 eley traps are cr....p any thing else was so so and did lost trust in the gun. but two weeks ago did try gamebore size 6 ( will check what weight) and they are just perfect for my gun and they do kill better then others. Pretty sure that Hushpower only recommend using fibre wads, which restricts you to Eley. Gamebore only do plaswad in .410. Think this is beacuse there is a (theoretical) risk of the plaswad getting hung up on the insides of the moderator, meaning the next shot might be interesting ... I'd suggest trying Eley non-subsonics in a Hushpower. Noise levels will be up slightly, but still very quiet. You can get 2.5" or 3" Eley with N0. 5 shot, making them very effective. I've actually got 2 ancient Eley paper case 2.5" fourlong which are a No.4 shot. Must cut one open sometime, do a shot count

00buck
you can hand load fibre wads or cork wads fine and easy to adjust the load with them
