lister1
I've had a bit of an idea. As some may know south lincs wildfowlers has shooting rights that cover 20 plus miles of foreshore. My idea is to cover the coastline ina period of 4 days or there abouts. You could start at shep whites have a morning session then walk to kirton pitch a tent and have an evening flight and so on till you get to the end. Is it possible? I mean to say are you allowed to do it.

scolopax
I would contact your club to see if they are okay with it. Knowing clubs someone will object to it, someone always objects to everything, which may cause trouble unless you get approval first. Big Mat
I think it'd be a good idea if someone was coming from a long way away, and wanted a few days wildfowling instead of going up to Scotland. Locals would probably just drive to each different marsh each day!
lister1
Wheres the funbin driving? I'm about 25 mins from sheps but think it would make a great expedition. Just wasn't sure of legalities regarding keeping your gun in a tent. Perhaps would be best to sleep in a car but walk and shot two marshes in the same day. Are there any club rules saying you can't use the bridge? I think the only issue would be gun storage at night.

You made up the expedition so i can't see the club saying you can't walk over the bridge! You might however upset a few members of the public when a few camo'd up blokes with guns and dogs go walking beside a busy road...

Perhaps we could take some tissues to give to anyone crying. Then perhaps they can go home a kick some doors in but it'll all turn out out fine because they have spares. Sorry couldn't help myself. Anyway now ivw deraild my own thread. I would think you could cover perhaps 4 or 5 marshes in a weekend. You could do either a softy approach and use the local cafes for breaky or cook your own. I just fancied a decent expedition this year, I thought it would beat the usual lake district type affair. I will certainly be doing a evening flight, camp out then the folowing morning flight. I have never never camped on a marsh but when i go to scotland I sleep in the car, save on the costs. Travel between estuarys during the day and sleep in the car between evening and morning flights. Sometimes just sit out alday...no different from sitting out on the rape after pigeons in winter...never a great deal to shoot at but plenty of non quarry to watch. I intend of kipping in the back of the Landy overnight early season, saves driving back and forth especially when i'm not home for long before i'm up again for the morning flight

I enjoy sitting around alday, and there is often the odd bird on the move in the day...lone birds usually, easy to call. Most days are spent driving to the next estuary. I am planning a 'circuit' of scotland...from yorkshire..lindisfarne, Tay, Montrose, findhorn, cromarty, wigtown, solway and home Could do with a camper van!! Edit: i have never been fowling further south than the humber...maybe a circuit down that way will be on the cards for the following season Edited June 12, 2013 by TJ91
barrold
You seen them tents you can get for the top of landys matt? I'm contemplating something like that. It costs me a fortune in fuel with all the travelling. Reckon i'd be too scared to sleep though with dodgy looking ******* like you and lister about. If you reinforced the roof and fitted a stena stairlift ayano3 might be able to kip up there

Some good fowling around Holbeach, Gedney, Kirton, kings Lynn etc. I should like a trip up to scottland at some point. Though will probably have to wait till next year. Are you based in the north?
