rsb
Probably been asked already but for around 4000 which pick up should I go for. Have been looking at l200 and navaras online, around the 04 reg age. Any ideas? Thanks.
al4x
depending where you are but have a look in the sales section for a hilux for sale by dodeer its well under budget but in need of work so you have the money to do the work and gets it up to budget. L200's be very careful about cracked heads and ones that have had a hard life at that age. I like them but 03/04 is the real danger period its not a massive repair bill but high enough to be a pain. navaras had engine issues so you need a modified or replaced one Rangers are the other option and you do get a fair bit for your money
four-wheel-drive
People do seem to rate the Ford Rangers as being good.

BrowningDJC
Rangers do seem to be good, ive heard very thirsty though. Most important thing with a pick up is to find one which hasnt been worked.
four-wheel-drive
Would you be looking for the 2 door or 4 door as I would have thought that you would stand a better chance of finding a 4 door that has not been worked to hard.
rsb
Thanks for the messages guys. It would be a four door I would be looking for so can still take mates and keep things locked in a cab. Have a freelander van at the moment and its comfy and economical it isn't much use in the rough when lamping or around the farm. Not sure whether to lift in by two inches and put mud terrains on or just p/x it in for a pickup. Been in aus for last eight months back next week, unfortunately you can't get landcruiser pick ups in England as they as awesome.
BrowningDJC
I saw a landcruiser pick up on the road not long a go over here, was brand new. Must be companies that can get hold of them, couldnt go wrong with one of those.
bunny_blaster
My boss will have a navara coming up for sale at the end of next week. It's the d22 version but he has just rebuilt the engine including all the relevant mods to stop it going bang.. It's a nice tidy motor with an effectively new engine. I think he wants £4000 for it. I can get you more details if your interested Ben
mike-b
ranger gives you best value for money and hilux for build quality and longer working life! ive had a lot of experience with lux's and cant fault them and highly recommend them! but as i said rangers do seem to offer best value for money! navaras seem to have most power but engine issues ! and l200 are an odd one you either seem to get a cracking one thats never any issues, or they seem to be a major engine issues! like i said its between the ranger and hilux for me
