rangey
after doing a few jobs around the house i decided to nip out yesterday afternoon for a bit of decoying, promptly threw all my gear in the truck and set out looking for pigeons.after checking a few fields i decided to shoot on a bit of poor rape in the corner of one field as id wathed 1 or 2 birds dropping in.luckily i was able to drive right up to my chosen spot.built myself a nice little hide and went to get decoys only to find that id left them in the garage...plonka...now do i go back and get them.decided i couldnt be bothered to pack up and go back to fetch them so decided to walk over to a big oak tree and see if i could bag a couple as they came into the tree.after 20 mins i had got a couple and decided to put these on my rotary.few birds started to come and have a look at the rotary and i slowly managed to build up a pattern.and at last birds started to come in.3 hours shooting and 32 birds.not bad for a few hours decoying...without decoys...will take a bit more time in future when loading my truck... TIGHTCHOKE
Well done! Although as yet I've never forgotten something as basic as the decoys. I have been out walking with just a gun and a few cartridges and found that after waiting under a tree and shooting 3 or 4 birds. When placed out in view they will bring in the others and my best afternoon like this was 72 picked. It makes for an enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours! mike-b
well done shooting is tough at the mo with pigeons being very indecisive so top job!! and a good recovery from what could have been a sour start to a trip!
Cosd
Sounds like a good day!! My friends dad refuses to sit in any hide with decoys. His ideal day is waiting under various trees and shoot a few coming in. Shot birds are not put down as deeks either. He's happy if he gets half a dozen in a few hours. Tried getting him to sit in a hide, but once he's had a coffee he wonders off....
pigeon controller
I quite like sitting under a sitty tree and shooting as they flair to land. Usually do it on recon trips to see reaction of shooting on the field . Just the gun , flask , carts and bag to carry birds.
pesky pigeon
The last time I went shooting I just took my hide and flapper only to realise I'd left the battery at home but still had a good day, picking off birds to build up a pattern.
