Gregthegreat
Morning all. I bought a second hand UK Shootwarehouse magnet from a private seller and a speed controller from Fullmarks Hunting Supplies on eBay earlier this year. I've only used it twice and both times it has cut out after only five minutes or so. I've tried checking connections, taking the cover off the base of the speed controller in case it was overheating and removing the speed controller all together although limited at the time of shooting due to wanting to get going so both times I just removed the magnet. I've now had it set up in the garden with the arms weighted and cannot get it to cut out despite slowing the speed as much as possible, full speed etc. Has anyone had similar troubles and found a solution? Regards, Greg. Edited June 23, 2013 by Gregthegreat

Gregthegreat
Morning Greg It would appear that it has healed itself! For now! Maybe it's a fair weather magnet.
woodpigeon100
I've had occaisions when similar has happened - it always turned out to be a fractured cable. If it happens to be laid with a connection it works if not it doesnt.. Might be worth 6 foot of cable if it happens again.

activeviii
have you loaded the magnet like you would out in field when it cut out. it could be the speed controller not able to handle the extra amp draw. try it without the speed control if it happens again then take the birds off the end. if it still happens replace the wiring. Cosd
I had my flapper doing the same once, Called A1 and they agreed to swap it, as I was packing it I noticed the cable was fractured. It looked like I must have shot the cable at some point as it was sheared barring a bit of the plastic holding it together allowing the copper to make contact some of the time.
