new to the flock
I have been laid up for the past 9 days. I had to pull my beaver snares and put my deer hunting on hold, and have been going nuts as I have had to stay basically indoors this whole time. Short trips out to the barn and kennels have been my only outings. I needed to find something to help occupy my time so I thought I would build a new whip stock for when out with the hunt pack. It still needs the tab lashed to the end, but since I have not been able to get out for the leather it will have to wait for a bit. Started out by finding a nice two foot piece of 1 1/4 by 12 inch white oak. A few quick pencil lines later and we are ready to do a rough outline cut. After some cutting with the jig saw, a roughed out stock. It was then time to use the dremil to do the shaping. The end whip stock after final carving, sanding, and waxing. Will post pics of tab and lash in place when I get them. NTTF
