Cranfield Posted July 15, 2013 Report Share Posted July 15, 2013 It does seem a bit mixed in my area, the spring plantings have a way to go yet, but the winter barley is turning golden very quickly in the recent sun. mike-b Posted July 15, 2013 Report Share Posted July 15, 2013 the farmer on my perms is predicting 2-3 weeks till our barley is cut! i think it was due to the bad weather and when farmers could get on drilling! it was bad up our way so its abut 3 weeks behind when it should be! but everything is this year! great to hear there is some stubble about though! now we know summer is here!!!!!!! mike-b Posted July 15, 2013 Report Share Posted July 15, 2013 i think it could be the same this year! after the winter and institutionalisation them on rape they have been very slow to even try anything else round out way i think they are still in that mind set and will take a good week or 2 to start feeding ! a good bit of spilt barley or rape does the trick most time getting the feral ones intrested and then attracting the larger numbers of visiting woodies! Ours is spring variety and only just starting to turn milky. I did see a combine parked up in a field yesterday while driving through Dorset so it can't be to far away.
