The Essex Hunter
Not when it's been raining. sorry to say...they are your fields and you need to watch them! yes birds feed in the rain as food is lying on the ground and it is easy picking... They don't seem to like sticky ground but they have to feed. The pea field I shot is still covered in loose peas, it has rained all day here and they were head down feeding.. You will learn more watching them...but not at 6 am or 7 pm....we often check fields a couple of times a day, but you need to know what you have around you as they will go to the easiest place to get a feed. What do you have on your land you can shoot? and what is next to be cut as it is no good posting next week saying the farmer has ripped it all up. One good thing about this rain is it will slow up the cultivator's and give us a chance on what has been cut!! TEH
dead eye alan
Shot 25 yesterday and it was raining nearly all day, not that easy to shoot under a brolly cost 54 carts, but that could just have been my poor shooting ability. paddymax123
I found that rain can be a good thing on a hard day as at times when it rains on and off all day the birds cleared the near by fields when it rained and went into the trees and when the rain stopped they came piling into the deeks
Edward Imp
I shoot in Cheshire and the pigeons here are posh. If it rains they do not fly, they wear three towed green le chemeau wellingtons and travel around in pigeon sized Landrover Discovery's. I hope that helps.
bongaanie
well Edward come to Lincolnshire and fetch your posh pigeons as that is all we have around here at the moment lol
Danoi99
I sat under a little sitty tree the other day and caught 5 that were heading for bit of cover. I just happened to spot loads of bird **** on the lower leaves and branches. Decided to wait around, all camo'd up, stayed still and got some good sport......it was hammering it down !!
