utectok
Ok guys I have a beretta 686 old 3" chamber but not steel proofed 12bore What's best Comercial available foreshore goose load? Cheers
roughshooter
Is it multichoke? If so then you wouldn't go far wrong with hevishot. If it is tightly fixed choke then you are probably stuck with 3" 46g Bismuth if you can find any!
grahamch
Kent tm 1.25 or 1.5 oz no 1 or 3s
utectok
Not a fixed choke but last hevi shot load I had to sell on as it needed steel proofed chambers
TIDES EDGE
I use Gambore 70mm steel through my 30year old 686 never thought about it not being proofed for steel ,have used hundreds
kent
Well I used a non-steel proofed Berretta with HP steel and I still use many other non-steel proofed guns with it (many were made before steel proof existed). No more than half choke at your own risk though, inspect the gun for soundness first. To be honest I think a good 30% of wildfowlers do likewise, it going to be hard to convince me that say a pre-steel magnum proofed Spanish gun cannot take it. You could always put it in for re-proof but they will shoot far greater pressure than required through it.
Wildfowler12
You won't go wrong with Eley Bismuth Will, it's not cheap but they're very effective. I think the last lot I got where Eley Forest 3' 46g, if I remember right they came in BB's, 1s and 3s.
utectok
Thanks for the advice guys sweet! No geese for ages yet but your right the gamebore 70mm Steel in 4 shot size is a good duck cart shame they add to the plastic junk in our seas though :( fibre wad would be nice
