You lot have some strange issues and possibly need to get out shooting a bit more

Up until now i never even thought that walking in bare feet is a big deal.

I'm with Tom on this - what's the issue? I walk about with bare feet all over the house and garden, as I walk around the house or the garden in shoes or work boots. It's the floor for **** sake, not your dinner plate. Unless you spend the evening licking your dinner off of the living room carpet I really can't see what difference it makes?

And my sofa has seen my bare **** more than once - you may want to think about that before sitting down if you ever visit.

:stupid: It's a house, not a museum!

I walk about in bare feet as much as I can, some on here may cringe but yes I do sometimes pop into the garden or to the car in bare feet, then yes walk back into my house without a 10 stage sanitizeing procedure. I don't and have never had any problems with my feet, no infections nothing. Not rock hard skin either. We were born without shoes, we lived millions of years without shoes, plenty of people in other countries live without shoes. As for the hygiene aspect, transmitting germs etc, you probably come into contact with the same amount of germs on a day to day basis anyway. Some people also say "if your too clean it will kill you". Your immune system needs a threat to attack to build up a resistance. Once it's been built up then your body is less susceptible to it's effects. So a overall lower risk of whatever bug causing u damage. I'm not UN hygieneic but I don't mind a bit of filth now and then. The looks I get at work sometimes when it's a stinky messy job and I just get on with it without moaning. I've seen the biggest hardest "men" nearly throw up from a whiff of something what's unpleasant. I'm sure most of you understand about immune systems etc but thought I'd post it anyway.

people lost the gist of the thread as often happens. Its not about your bare feet on your carpet, its about others turning up, mainly in the summer months, and walking about the hosts carpet.
