caeser
After just reading a thread, on how people go about despatching woodpigeon, it made me wonder how people get on with despatching wounded crows and rooks. Firstly just let me say that I don't have any problems with despatching any wounded birds, after all I've been doing it for over 40 years, so I should know how to do it by now. So I am interested to know what weird and wonderful methods people use on corvids.
karpman
Shoot em again if I'm feeling flush on carts. Not some thing I normally advocate but hate crows lol. Failing that pick em priest em as fast as possible. I have a old police truncheon for this. Does the job admirably. Karpman

karpman
Stamp on their head in the past or as said if can't be **** to leave the hide we shoot them again I would imagine it could take some stamping if the ground is nothing short of solid to be honest. Not trying to be all pc or anything just don't think it's the best advice or the best thing to be seen doing lol Karpman
flynny
Same as pigeon, neck em Atb Flynny
Pykie
I use a priest, hold them by both wing tips so their heads protrude out and a sharp whack does the job. When picking them up I place the priest across their necks so they don't turn and peck my hand.

JDog
Having shot and wounded a corvid, no matter how much we dislike them, it is imperative to kill them quickly. The steel rods which I push through pigeons to make them stand up work very well for the job. As Pykie says, hold the wings back. That pushes the head and neck forward leaving a better target. caeser
They always seem to me, to be a lot more intelligent than other birds. Consequently when you approach them it appears as if they know whats coming. Self preservation can make them understandably aggressive. Some times I'll neck them , but most of the time I use a priest, it depends how docile or wounded they are.
