Under the moon

Good bit of fog this morning would have made things interesting.

Instead of being out fowling i'm sat at home doing nowt

Things can be quite good in the fog if you can just about see. Get on the call there are usually lost birds flitting around looking for their mates (especially if tide moves them) and they draw well to the call, trick is just seeing them often you can hear them know they are in range but cannot see were to shoot.

The moon was great here last night but I couldn't get out as wife was working late and I had to stop in with the kids. There was even some wind- very sad

Cant wait, I'll be out at 2am ish and 8n Sunday.

Just keep ya fingers crossed this weather holds.

I was doing some traing last night with the dog. Her retrieve has been a bit weak with dummies. I think she just wants to retrieve the real thing.

Got my dogs neoprene jacket ready, although probably a bit warm for it yet.

I'm stuck at work getting all excited.

Last year I got out in yhe autumn fog and the pinks came over a treat knce called. Hope its as good this year.

Bigmatt you need a slap. Get out there boy.

I'll be out at 2am so I can wait out the high tide aswell as get a bit of moon flight.

Though I'll run the risk of missing the birds if the sky is clear.

If the fog or heavy cloud stays they may wait till the tide pushes the off.

Theres only one way to find out! Get out there.

Where are you looking at going?

I put deeks out. give em something to aim for and dont forget to take ya calls.

Cheers! Went for a walk last night and then I got to the sea wall it was pea soup with fog,(everywhere else was perfect sky). Tried a practice gun mount when I got bored and spooked a few mallard 80 yards out. Figured if they can see that well then decoys would be a shout.

Canna get any decent call out of my double nasty mallard call. Will have to just stick to the wigeon and geese

Meant to ask, do you folk bother putting decoys out if shooting the tide on the moon? Or just wait without for birds to flight past? I would normally just go for the latter but would be interested to know.

Deeks whenever its not really windy. Even the best deeks behave unnaturally in a strong onshore blow (and the flightline widens anyway so the aint required). Don't expect birds to droop in unless they are drawn to feed in that location normally but they will move a flightline a bit and the duck will often do a stoop fly-past over the deeks giving you a better chance.
