just looking to purchase my first shotgun after getting my licence and frequenting the local clay club for while. I need to figure out if i need to spend a grand or so on my first gun or just get a cheaper one to start of with.

I have just got the local gunshop to get me a browning gti ultra with game scene engraving for me to look at. 30 inch barrels comes with original box 5x chokes key etc. This is up for 995 and seems a really nice gun. Can you tell me what model it is with the engraving and is it a good price. Action is nice and the stock is in good condition with a few small marks. And is it a good starter gun for me or do i buy a cheaper one and have to upgrade in a year or so.

thanks in advance.

Chris.

You most definately don't need to spend loads ona first shotgun. Most of the money you are paying is for posh wood and engraving plus the brand name. Most important is the gun fits which might be hard to figure out at first. Spend some of your budget on a few lessons that will do you more good than grade 5 wood.

I have two guns one cost me around £2200 and the other cost me £200 and I used both of them.

Thank you. Already had a few lessons so the desion for me is a gun that i won't need to upgrade and holds it money well if I do want to or a cheaper gun than is not worth much when I will wan't to upgrade. I am shooting with the browning tomorrow so i will get them to check the fit etc.

Thanks for the advice.

Im in rugby Warwickshire. I agree if it fits well and you shoot well with it thats the gun you need. I will see how it is tomorrow and go from there. Looking into it the gun seems to be a gti s with the game scene engraving. Cant find a lot of info on them on the net. Gun is really nice fee small marks on the stock nothing that wouldn't come out with steaming. Unfortunately stuck on buying from a dealer as I need to put it on my cc as the wife is taking all my spare cash for our vegas trip in march lol.

Going to speak to the wife tonight and all going well tell the gunshop i am having it by friday :)

Nice one, well done, I was in the same dilemma myself for a few months, I set myself a budget of £900.00 , I looked at loads, I turned to another forum for advice (only because I didn't know this one existed at the time ) they all said the same thing..."don't buy a brand new one at that price...buy a good second hand one from one of the 'Big 3' i.e Miroku, Browning or Beretta, as you'll get a better more reliable gun for your money" I nearly made a mistake by buying a new Bettinsoli ! but I ended up buying a used Beretta 686 Onyx...its a terrific Gun, fits me well and I shot with it for the first time the other week, I've never shot so well (been using a club gun for the last few months) looks like you took sound good advice and bought a gem !
