Hello

It is more than likey a thermostat within the oven.

It may be worth removing the switch and checking for any signs of burning/arching or loose conection.

Only do this with the circuit turnrd of ofcourse.

A new switch will be easier and cheaper replaced than any part of the oven

They are nicknamed meggers as they are megaohmmeters ( mega for big, ohm for resistance and meter is self explanatory)if the thermostat has failed it would either make or break the power to the element which would either create the fault where the element was on all the time or wouldn't get hot, that wouldn't cause a trip, we also haven't distinguished if its the fuse that is popping or the elcb yet , a direct short between live and earth would pop the circuit breaker (fuse) , an earth to neutral would pop the elcb ( earth leakage circuit breaker)

megohmeter is an abbreviation although I agree they are sometimes referred to as this. Also in reference to the elcb I wouldn't expect one to be installed as nowadays rcbo or rccds are fitted and operate using a much better fault detection system. If their is a elcb fitted I would recommend changing it. With a elcb you can have unknown earth connections on the cct, particularly when pipework is bonded and it will affect it's operation.

If it's a circuit breaker that's kicking off then it may be as simple as a neutral to earth fault , possibly an element leaking to earth .Get it checked by an electrician with a megger to find the fault -- cheaper than a new oven !

If it's the breaker tripping it won't be neutral earth fault, if it's the RCD then it will
