Deano 1
Does anyone know where I can purchase these from, http://www.piledriverpellets.co.uk/ That are local to Mansfield Notts or, online that don't charge £6 for delivery. I only want one tin so I can try them in my Daystate X2 .177 ( good reviews with 4.46mm ). If they work I don't mind buying in bulk from Blackpool air rifles with a 10% discount. chrisjpainter
Is that a sub 12 .177? i'd be curious to see what they're like. That's like pushing 2 Bisley Magnums down the barrel; that must make for one loopy trajectory
secretagentmole
Much better to try Defiant Ogives in 4.52, 11 grain and hit like a well lobbed brick!
Deano 1
Yes it is sub 12, but I have researched these pellets and in 2006 they were tested to the max by all the magazines. I want them for 25 yard max where these piledrivers retain over 90% of there muzzle velocity up to this distance, giving a deadly impact. Much better to try Defiant Ogives in 4.52, 11 grain and hit like a well lobbed brick! I'll look in to them although they are half the weight of the piledriver. The thing with all pellets is that you have the front surface area of any given calibre as a constant and in sub 12 the residual energy when it makes contact is going to be largely the same give or take less than 1/2 a ft lb so the knock down power is never going to vary by any great amount. The best thing you can do is use the most accurate pellet available and preferably a light one that will be as flat shooting as possible. If you want hard hitting you need a larger more than heavier pellet and preferably a FAC. I seem to recall these particular pellets had been withdrawn from sale a few years back because they were taking air rifles over the legal limit. Another reason to avoid if that is correct. Have you never liked the look of something different then and thought " I might try them ". These are not a new pellet, they've been out for 7 years and I'm not doing competition, I'm killing rabbits with a .177, and I want them dead " first shot ". I just need to get closer, all part of the sport in my opinion.

They have not been recalled, they are still on sale, and I own a chrony F1 permanently set up, so no problem with the law.
bruno22rf
A Rabbit shot in the head with any pellet is dead-no pellet is going to make it more dead. The variable enters the argument when accuracy rears its head-competition winners use certain pellets because they offer superb accuracy-there are most likely only 5 manufacturers pellets commonly used in top level competitions-if these don't do it for you then nothing will. And yes, I have seen something different that I would be willing to try but I am also wise enough to be able to avoid the million and one things that are essential for shooting in the eyes of the shop owners. By all means buy some-I honestly hope that you find them the best ever-but I'm willing to bet you are back on normal pellets pretty soon. Deano 1
Cheers for that Chris, I did see them but it seems a lot of money to throw away if and "when" they turn out to be a right flop.
