Fabhui
So my shotgun certificate finally dropped through my door last Friday...hurrah!!...so now I'm looking at buying my first shotgun. As it will be my first shotgun I'm not wanting to spend over £400 and I want something that's going to be reliable and suitable for both clays and game. Also I'm not really after a semi and would much prefer an 0/U or a pump action (for the sheer fun of it!). So what do you guys think would be a good starting point? Also if any of you fellas are fairly local to me ( I'm based in both Burton-On-Trent and Leicester) and have got something to sell let me know what you've got as I could well be interested. Cheers for any help and advice as it will be much appreciated!
Mentalmac
Something that fits is most important - Maybe a Miroku in that price range? Baikals are ok, but some don't get on with them. I am only relaying info from the pro's on here - I get on just fine with a £100 O/U single trigger Non ejector haha. And if I miss, I blame it on the gun. In seriousnes, I spent the last year using a friends lanber which he 'grew out of' and bought a hiddeously expensive gun... I guess shotguns are like the Triathlon scene, lots of guys with 'all the gear and no idea'. (I whooped a chap on a £2500 carbon bike on a £200 old race bike as my race bike got broken a few days before race, but that old racer and me fit each other perfect). fenboy
For that money you will find a S/H Lanber hard to beat.

shaun4860
Don't discount the following Browning Medalist Laurona Bettinsoli Rizzini Lanber All good guns for the money You should really be looking for a single trigger, either multichoke or a not too tight fixed choke, and I would be looking for an ejector as well, Good luck
simonix
Might want to PM Wabbitbosher on here. He always has a few interesting guns in your budget! Great guy to deal with, and being in Kettering, not too far from Leicester. :-)
HDAV
definitely start with an OU (pump actions aren't ideal game guns...) make sure it fits and don't rush to buy the first you see in your budget.

Couldn't agree more, I have a MK70 worth £2300 and while I shoot well with it its an obscene amount of money to spend on a gun. I'm more in to my field shooting so why I bought it is beyond me, I dare not take it out unless I am on a clay shoot.
Fabhui
Thanks for the advice fellas. As it goes I bought a shotgun from a member on here and it happened to be the same make and model of a gun that I had actually had experience of shooting. Fabhui
What did you get? I got a Winchester 101 XTR Sporter. It came with 5 chokes and a slab of cartridges for a price I was very happy with Edited November 20, 2013 by Fabhui
