bruno22rf
Thinking about buying a couple of detectors-they are £820 each in the UK but only $750 in the States which would work out at approx. £930 for the two if I could buy them from the good old USA-the company ship worldwide so that's no problem but what sort of import duty would I have to pay?-anyone done anything similar? aris
Duty is minimal - but you will pay 20% vat on item AND shipping costs.

filzee
my dad did it but got it sent to my uncles house in california and they then posted it over. No charge. If you know anyone going over there soon get them to bring them back over
deershooter
Normally 5% import duty 20% vat pluss £8 post office charge for collecting the duty and vat, don't forget they will add the import duty shipping costs post office charge and then charge Vat on the total Good luck Deershooter

Trust is the only problem - most people like to try M detecting !!!!
casts_by_fly
£930 purchasse price plus shipping (estimate £50) is £980. VAT will take it up to £1180 or thereabouts. Another £14 for handling is £1200. Sounds like a couple hundred pounds savings. rick

If the manufacturer has a UK presence and repair center, and also honors their warranty internationally, then you are okay. You have minimal recourse with the original retailer though. johnphilip
The T2 is a great machine, one of the main dealers in the uk is regtons in birmingham. Think the basic T2 is about £720 that has everything you need. If you got 2of him i am sure he will give you some discount, just tell him i said you would get a bit of a bargain. Not to long ago they were about £400 ish, then they started to find some small gold nuggets in africa and the price just shot through the roof. people were buying them new and selling them on and making money.seems they are very good for gold prospecting. The yanks use them for coin shooting. I had one for a few years a great machine and easy to set up. There is some very good detecting forums out there. If you need any more help give me a shout........
