CharlieT
So farmers still get incentives for growing wild pasture/set aside? Many game crops do not qualify, in fact growing them can have the opposite effect as he would lose out financially.
scotslad
The simple fact is some ground willnot really be suitable for driving pheasants, be happy with the vermin, mibee ask to shoot an odd pheasant up a hedge walked up. When u start getting into releasing pheasants and planting and fencing cover crops things get dear very quickly
Proudly
Not looking to drive them scotslad but the bracken & gorse filled gulley usually holds a dozen or so everytime we walk it & theres always more in the hedgerows. Not looking to release birds just put some feeders down & have a few days rough shooting a season & speak to the farmer about the possibility of digging a pond
Konnie
we only pay rent for cover plots. but look after pigeon problems at the drop of a hat.Only speaking from experience here but be careful about paying for shooting land may work out costly, on one block we had it was made up of two land owners one did not want cover on his so paid the going rate for a plot on the other, he got wind of this and only saw it one way as we were paying for the land by acre and wanted the same money. Now think if you had to pay for all the land you already have because you pay for a little ? stranger things have happened
