Dogs and Cats.

Hi All

I was yesterday offered a 9 week old Springer pup by the farmer of 1 of my shoots. I have been thinking about getting a dog for sometime now, so spoke to the wife who to my surprise did not straight away say no way. She is OK in principle but she is worried as we have a cat at home. She is a little worried how me introducing a dog into the house will affect the cat.

Was hopping to get some advice of anyone in the know.

Cheers All

Thanks all for the replies.

i was hoping that i would find out it was ok for dog and cat in same house. Have just rung farmer and told him i will be having the pup.

Oh by the way tiercel, particularly like your reply that the easy solution is to get rid of the moggy, but if i have any chance of continuing shooting the cat has to stay to please the wife and kids.

Cheers All

Had a springer and a moggie and they shared the same bed, one cat even slept on the springers back.

When the new lab came in and the cat was older by then they quite happily toerated each other with no major probs.

Thanks for that.

have just been talking to a fellow syndicate member and he was telling me about how their cat and springer would follow each other around and that they slept on the same blanket all the time. He also said that the cat being in the house first was without a doubt the dominant one.

Cheers :good:
