Paul223
I'm not familiar with the rav, does it have a transfer box and if so check that it's not in neutral If not Any noises or vibrations How's it been recently, anything usual like clutch slipping or riding Edited November 21, 2013 by Paul223
TaxiDriver
Is 2wd or 4wd It could be the cable that operates the selector has snapped (if its a cable from the gear selector to gearbox or the linkage) It could be a cv joint or driveshaft problem Could simply be clutch
Gordon R
Is it the same in all gears, including reverse?
hodge911
is it feeling like its going into gear with the usual notch ? what happens if you put into gear with engine off and try to push it or have foot ready over the brake pedal and with nothing in front of you try to start it in gear see if it lurches forward. they sometimes push the release bearing threw the fingers on the clutch cover or the centre of the friction plate may have sheared therefore no drive
stu nesling
hi just bought one myself 54 plate. did a lot of reading on these and that sounds like the dmf (dual mass flywheel) fault i have read about. the year of the vehicle is about right too!. take a look on toyota owners club and search for dmf. pricey.....but look into single mass flywheels it may save you a load!! yes it will have a transfer box and rear diff but is all wheel drive with no selectable 4hi/4lo just perm awd/4wd. good luck
