darren m
wildfowling novice question ;- guys how do i get into wild fowling , what would be a good starting point. i am in south NOTTS , where would be my nearest club? , do i need to join a club ? is there anywhere that does taster days etc ? i,ve been shooting many years on and off but never had the oppertunity to try wildfowling not properly anyways , you know getting out there and down in the dirt so to speak . when i,ve been reading the posts in this section it sounds like its better than sex full of excitement , anticipation and sometimes a total flop but always great fun trying. any adivce welcomed thanks
Penelope
A club would be the best bet and BASC will have a list of affiliated clubs.
Big Mat
Get a copy of the BASC permit booklet, this will let you see what clubs offer day tickets nearby, contact a nearby club for a day ticket ( they will be able to find someone to take you out ) to try to sport out and see if its for you. Its certainly not a sport for everyone. That would be my suggestion, then if you do enjoy it, you can try and sort membership through the club that took you out. Big Mat
I'm not 100% on that, but alot of clubs say you have to have valid basc membership to shoot on a day ticket

Penelope
As it's a BASC scheme for affiliated clubs, yes you do, although there is one club on the permit scheme that accepts others with 3rd party liability insurance. I remember reading this the other day in the BASC permit booklet, but I can't remember the name but think they are on the south coast. Duck stamp is £5, i had to get one when i shot fenland last month. I can think of a few guys from up that way of the world who travel down to shoot the wash on a regular basis. xav
Some clubs participating to the permit scheme accept insurance from a different organisation
