Ruger 10\22 Accuracy

Hi I'm having a problem with the accuracy of my Ruger 10\22 I've changed my trigger group for a lighter one, I've polished all the sliding surfaces on my hammer. With my C.Z. 455 I can put 10 rounds in a 1" circle @ 50 meters With the ruger its 2 1/2" circle

Try different ammo and also check the scope rail is screwed on tight.

Strange.My Ruger 10/22 is very accurate and also zeroed at 50 yards.

Check the barrel is tight (think that was my problem on a different rifle)

is the mag sloppy? i seem to remember someone having problems with one cycling as it was so slack, the rounds didn't line up properly and got deformed on the way into the chamber. might just be gunk in the chamber knocking the round over a bit, mine was a bleeder for this.

Try shooting a group without the mag, loading one round at a time - If you can produce a good group then you know it's a feed/mag problem.

If still no luck then try one round at a time and the mod removed.

I'm surprised noone's mentioned checking the crown or floating the barrel. Two of the first things to think about.

 

Is it a standard barrel in a wood stock? If yes try taking the barrel clamp off. Is it scoped? You didn't say. If it is try a different scope. Try taking the scope off, removing the rings and putting it back together. Try a different set of rings Check the action screw is tight. Are you cleaning it? DON'T. Let the barrel get nicely fouled. Are you using a moderator? Try it without.

 

My 10/22 has performed consistently well for over 10 years. Looks rough, gets thrown about and generally abused and hardly ever gets cleaned. And it still keeps coming back for more.

 

The post about trying different ammo is spot on. They can be very fussy. Mine works well with Winchester subs and Eley. Other 10/22's hate them. There's a very good possibility your problem could be there so maybe trying that avenue forst could save you a lot of messing about.
