In this case the terrain (they in a small gully and forest behind me) also made it even worse for them to locate where the shot came from. Out of interest, having shot the first animal broadside and with the remaining two having presented broadside shots why did you ultimately choose to neck shoot the second? glogin Posted December 4, 2013 Author Report Share Posted December 4, 2013 As they were going straight towards me I thought I should be quick and got my crosshairs on the calf and squeezed the trigger. I know they usually run the last distance between the moor and forest and the wind was not great either. I had no intention taking more than just one calf, but then when they were not going away after couple of minutes I decided to take a young hind as well I thought I could manage.
