Devon Rough Shooting

Bit of footage from some rough shooting with friends recently. The weather was so hot for this time of year and with all the walking we sweated buckets! Lovely day out though and look forward to getting out more over the season. Was surprised though not to see a woodcock :( don't know where they all are as we usually see quite a nice number by now here in Devon

Some nice action there and good shooting. :good:

One of the best rough shooting dogs I ever saw was owned by a wildfowler and it was trained to run into shot, as he mostly shot tidal coastal waters he wanted his dog on a shot bird as quickly as possible.

That dog ran in, but I never saw him fail to pick a shot bird.

That is the thing with our dogs, I would rather the bird was picked straight away, especially if only pricked so it can be dispatched quickly. And as we inland wildfowl, roost shoot, decoy, driven game, walked up game, vermin control etc we need a dog that can do it all, not just a peg dog

Looks like a great day out, what was it you shot through the hedge? Thought it was going to be a fox but wasn't showing in final bag tally, couldn't see it on my pc!

Grey squirrel running along the hedgerow, I could see all was safe so took the shot when he broke cover into the open
