Not sure about what Mk it is but I sure as hell wouldn't accept a gun that's been sat in the dealers for 14 months. Would you pay for a new car that's been sat on a forecourt for that length of time?

I don't believe that is true. Both are still being made and being sent to gun shops, so I don't really know what that chap's on about. Having said that, as Timmytree has said, a gun that's been sitting on the shelf for 14 months? hardly brand new is it...

I'd go back and say that it's not acceptable. The warranty is valid from purchase date, so that's not a problem, but even so...

This is a terrible comparison . Do you know how long new cars are stored in fields ? They can be 2 years old before you get them .

Yes I do know, I've watched the stockpiles at Avonmouth for years and pitied the people who have paid for a new car not knowing that it's been sat in a low lying grass field next to a salt water tidal river and with the prevailing wind bringing salty moist air off the sea. I've been told of vehicles that are perforated with rust and had to be scrapped before they even left the compound. That's why I will never buy a new car.

I think it's a fair analogy, a long unsold gun will deteriorate as seals harden and become less flexible, customers should be made aware of that.

Three years ago in June I bought what was probably the last bull barrel carbine Super 10 being sold new in the country. It did not matter to me that they had not been made for a few years, it was being sold as new with a warranty. BSA never had to honour the warranty it was great from the off, but then I took it to Mr Bowkett and now have an everlasting warranty!
