steve_b_wales
I've got a Bushnell one, but have'nt used it much. I tried it on a .22 air rifle by 'aiming' at the back garden wall, then altered the scope reticule until it lined up with the laser dot. Trying the rifle out later proved to be okay. kent
A rifle doesn't shoot exactly the same place with different ammo so no you cannot "zero" with one. What you can do is zero your gun then note exactly were the laser indicates in relation to your sight at a set range and use it as a no- shot required check say if your gun takes a knock etc.
Dekers
Personally I find them a complete waste of time and money, you will only get so close with one and then have to finish with live fire anyway. Then, when you have done it goes back in the cupboard to gather dust. I run 8 rifles on FAC and check zero regularly, a laser would not help me. moorvale55
Lasers are not designed as a point of aim, there main use is in failing light. If your scope is zeroed at 30 yds and you switch the laser on it will indicate if tour quarry is closer than 30 yds or farther away, if the laser dot is above the cross hairs the quarry is closer, if it's below the cross hairs it's farther away. Personally I would not bother.
iain
I keep a laser boresighter in my range bag. Comes in handy when someone needs a hand sorting a new scope out. Found that a proper spigot boresighter is a lot better but takes up more room.

Your talking of a different thing there a laser sight! the op is talking of the ones used for zeroing similar to a bore colometer
