Hamster
I add linotype which is high in antimony to harden it. What ratio do you use ? I know you do your own reloading a fair bit so just interested whether you've noticed any difference in performance on pigeon with varying recipes ? Some people say manufacturers use softer lead in game shells to give better kills ! Never been convinced myself but would be interested in your experiences ? The only reason to use less antimony is to save money IMO. I use 1 part lino to 3 parts roofing lead and that seems about right, the shot is pretty hard. That's always been my suspicion , I've retrieved enough shot from inside birds to make a box of reloads but only ever noticed deformed ones when they hit bones. I agree, all the shot I find in dead pigeons seems to be the same shape as it is when loaded into cartridges.

shoot and be safe
I add linotype which is high in antimony to harden it. Out of curiosity, how much do you pay for linotype lead? I used to be a printer specialising in lead type, 10 years ago we scrapped 6 ton @£200/ton

The supply wont last forever though there really isn't much of it about these days.
