ratting in the chicken shed

got asked by a farmer from whom we get our eggs at work,to see if i could thin out the rats in a couple of his sheds while they were empty for cleaning,he didnt have to ask twice. So me,my brother in law and my mate had a few trips up with the air rifles accounting for a few.The farmer said the shed was to be emptied of a years worth of chicken poop and would we go up,well today was the day,so i made a phone call and arranged for the terriers to be put into action.Arrived at the farm at 8.30am,5 of us with 5 terriers and spades. The farmer wasnt there as he was feeding the other sheds,so we had a poke about, killing 4 or 5.Then the farmer arrived with the bobcat, tractor and trailer,he soon set to with the bobcat, picking up big bucketfulls of the chicken dirt, the smell was so bad we all had face masks with a good dollop of vicks sinex, lol. We were all full of anticipation after earlier having some strong marking from the dogs in the multitude of holes that the farmer was now breaking into. The rats must have been running through the maize of holes and making good there escape, but not for long. After filling two trailers, and the dogs accounting for a handfull of rats,he said thats as much as he could do today,we made our arrangements for next time and went on his way.So we decided to go to the other side of the shed as we figured thats probably where the rats had gone to after the disturbance.we lifted the first platform and "bang",rats all over, its amazing how rats can get the adrenalin going in dog and man, lol.we made our way along, lifting small sections of platform, sometimes falling in to the stinking quagmire, accounting for rat after rat after rat, dont know how many were killed under the sections of floor we couldnt move or under the egg conveyour,or how many made there getaway, but it was a lot, anyway after a couple of hectic hours we managed to get halfway along the shed(these sheds are around 80 - 100 yards long),then we decided to call it a day,as the dogs and ourselves were knackered and stinking,so we washed the spades, and boots and wellies and left the rats for the next assault ill plan with the farmer, was great to see good dogs doing what they love and seeng grown men as excited as kids at christmas......DAZ

only managed a couple of pics with my phone...
