Had a walk round a farm this afternoon looking for pigeons. Not much about as usual but there did seem to be just a few more than usual.

Decided to have half an hour in the wood roost shooting but there was a bit of work going on nearby which kept the pigeons away.

Only ended up with a squirrel and pigeon and have decided to try the squirrel for tomorrows tea.

Never eaten it before so if i like it it might be on the menu regularly.

Skin and gut and take off the legs and saddle and brown in a hot frying pan before adding to vegetables in a casserole dish and add water (not much). Cook on a high heat (220) for three quarters of an hour. Add seasoning to taste and test after one hour to see if all is cooked.

They can be a pain to skin, I use a very sharp knife and just allow it to help separate. Water helps. Can skin a squirrel in 10 mins now. I cut off paws before skinning now as this helps and also don't gut until after skinning as otherwise its difficult. I bake in foil in oven for 1 hour on gas mark 4 :-)
