neil3728
I'm thinking of getting one for the car, way too many near misses not to really. what is the memory like?
Beardo
you're probably better off with a dedicated car cam then - they automatically record when you turn the ignition on. this won't do that. memory is whatever microSD card you stick in it

Beardo
Ok folks - cam arrived today - £49.75 took 1 week from order here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/131065110131?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 nothing extra to pay with customs etc. First impressions - well made, feels sturdy, comes with everything under the sun (see pic earlier in thread) - though you will need to buy a Micro SD card - i got a Samsung 32gb for £12. I won't bother going over all the features as that first video on the thread does it far better than i could. Oh and it does have a car mode, looping record etc, (and comes with a car power adapter). Also has motion detect (and just about everything else under the sun) Here's a quick test in 1920x1080p 30fps (default mode) - make sure you select to view in HD - click the little cog and select the highest res. -also bear in mind Youtube compresses the hell out of video. And here it is in 1280x720p 60fps there's a bit of blocking when you have large areas of flat colour, it seems to handle exposure pretty well (you can see in the vid shooting direct at the sun then turning away). i've tried to show what it would look like when rough shooting to give you guys a better idea - as the cam will be mounted on you or a gun as you walk, rather than on a tripod etc. probably best to keep it in 720p for most action stuff as the framerate is double and will look a lot smoother. Overall - it's not a GoPro, but it's amazing for the price.

humperdingle
Ok, cheers. The waterproof housing is reassuringly heavy... I don't think mine will ever be used underwater, but good for if it starts pouring down, I suppose.
steve_b_wales
Nick. There's one for sale via Amazon, and shipped within the UK. Is this the same one? humperdingle
Thanks. Does it come with all the clamps etc, as shown in this thread? Yep. Some of them I can't quite work out but there's a big photo page of instructions too. Going to the clay shooting tomorrow, too, so might see if I can get it on the gun. steve_b_wales
I have just picked up an action cam 3 for £32 quid on the bay I have just started to try it out and it looks very promising, may get a testing on some crows tomorrow. KW I have the above camera, and it's great. It will be up for sale soon through lack of use. Very good quality and fits perfectly to a shotgun barrel. Recoil does not affect this camera. humperdingle
Ooh, I didn't realise it had motion detection... Just set it up and faked a break-in... Worked perfectly and in hi-res Seems to come on instantly when motion is detected and has around a 5 second delay when no motion. Nice! Could be a waterproof trail cam for daytime use, too? humperdingle
This also has a 'cyclic record', or video loop setting, too, so you can keep recording and it'll only keep the last 1m, 5m or 10 minutes. Mine is set to the highest res but Hz options are 50 or 60Hz .
