shotboygun
according to essex police 4 weeks, but that said a SGC grant should take 10-
jimmygillborn
that's not to bad from reading some of the other posts my initial grant for SGC and FAC only took 3 weeks from posting it off to getting my certs.

owo1-man
Reading this is like a blast from the past, took them 5 month's to grant my FAC and all of the items that I have read here were stated to me whenever I contacted them. Be sure you are being treated as a ****wit by someone. When you have had enough of this ask to speak with Insp Emma Brooks as she is the one in charge of this department. OddJob
I've just put in for FAC and got a letter just to inform it's likely to take up to 16 weeks. A long time but at least thru had the decency to manage expectations.
Essex Keeper
how long should a variation take to process?? Was told this morning can take up to 20 weeks now
OddJob
Should and will are 2 different questions. If they day 20 weeks expect that and get surprised if it's shorter.

Moley101
Hi guys, glad to see it's not just me suffering. I applied back in mid to end of January, had my interview within 6weeks (Feb 1/2 term) and was told it would be 4-6weeks! Fired off a couple of emails and received fairly bland, generic responses - last one stating over 18week wait. Getting very impatient now!! Sister in law is holding my gun on her cert for me. It's annoying though as I've missed a fair few opportunities to go shooting on my own, etc. How long is too long?! OddJob
It might be worth giving them a call; pester power and all that.
Moley101
It might be worth giving them a call; pester power and all that. will do. Have been trying to think if there is any other process that takes as long, I think it took us less time to buy our house!
shotboygun
I keep phoning each week and get told its waiting to be looked at and the renewals take precedent (Which you can understand). They cant give me a time scale of how long it will take. Edited May 29, 2014 by shotboygun
Nrees21
You lot think it is taking a long time for your certs, it took durham all of 8 months to so sort my fac and shotgun certs last year, it was the longest year of my life. Pleases to say they came and are open orientation
Moley101
Apparantly they have a backlog of 600renewals currently, and only one guy in the office as the others have left/are ill/ etc. Local dealers/shops are getting very frustrated as it is affecting their business. BASC are aware and are looking into it also. letters also sent to general complaints, PCC and chief constable! using pester power! J_Edwards
I'm on 5 months in South Yorkshire. Cheque cashed after 1 week, home visit after 3, 12 weeks later and still nothing through the post. I'm calling them every month, and their response is that there's a lot more applications than usual, they're short-staffed, and renewals get put in front of grants.
