Westward
Right now they are mechanically identical with only the chokes and cosmetics being different but, SP1 sporters are beginning to arrive in America with Optima HP chokes and since the whole point of the SP1 was to be a global gun it might be worth checking this with GMK. I've never heard of Ilium but there is something Beretta calls Steelium which is a barrel manufacturing process first mentioned when the SV10s came out. In fact it's nothing but a buzz word for a process they'd been using for years anyway. First it was Steelium on the SV10s & A400s, then it was Steelium Pro on the DT11 and more recently Steelium Plus on the 692. Like every production Beretta they're all made from the same Excelsior HP steel using the same 'Steelium' process - but it's nifty stuff for the marketing blurb because it creates an aura of special around something that really isn't. figgy
Get an older 682 Gold E for sporting, great gun and much better value for money. Figgy
bostonmick
The silver pigeon range are all in my opinion good workhorse guns they are reliable and reasonable price.i bought one recently as I needed a set of barrels for another gun and this was the cheapest route.the chokes are optima and have been around for a few years now the hp chokes are fitted to dt11 and 692 and as I have never used one can't say if there is and difference.i also have never used the evo so cannot comment to far on that except in my experience all Beretta guns are good reliable pieces.and I have owned around 50 of them over the past forty years.however as you will know fit is more important than looks.good luck
Westward
HP chokes have the same profile as standard Optima and are based on the same nominal 18.6mm bore. They appeared first on the SV10s (along with Steelium) and then on every new gun since except the SP1. No one claims they pattern better, but my experience with them is the new thread arrangement means they tend not to loosen when shooting. Despite the battalion of Prevail haters on here, just for the better handling alone, I would pick the Prevail 1 over either of the 2 you're looking at. bigolbear
Got the EVO , out on friday and sunday weather permitting to have a real go . shop (Brierley Gun) spent a lot of time making sure I had a gun that fits to the point of disgarding more expensive guns that didn't fit properly so only parse for them , thanks for the comments

Wiggum
I had an evo but traded it in 3 months after getting it lovely gun but just couldn't hit anything with it and my clay scores halved overnight it started to affect the way I shot so I went back to a beretta semi a400 which I love.
