Theskyfox
Hi Guys, Unfortunately the Hw95 has just had to go in for repairs. I pulled it out from its case to give it a go (hadn't used it since last summer), fired a few shots and it seemed ok. Was then cleaning it, cocked it, went to de-cock it (by holding the barrel tight and pulling the trigger) and it went bang instead of trying to close the barrel! Never had a problem with it like this before - have been totally unable to cock it again since . Any ideas what could cause that? Taken it to the guys at Rayleigh who are going to give it a full service and repair for me. -Andrew
timmytree
Snapped piston rod or busted sear.
Theskyfox
Any idea of the scale/cost of the repair of those? -Andrew
kent
Its not a massive repair. Look at chambers sight for airgun parts. Its either the cocking link or a new piston at a guess
NickB65
Snapped piston rod or busted sear. Easy one to fix with parts from Chambers. Cost is a little time and about £10.00 if that. Mine broke when I put in a new spring..... easy to do and there are a few YouTube vids showing how to strip the gun.
NIGHT SEARCHER
Cocking lever Shoe £6.25. Newer stronger ones. The old ones were weak and snapped. Cocking lever £13.15. From www.gunspares.co.uk AKA Chambers. If your thinking of putting a new spring in it have a look at www.airgunpellet.co.uk They are very cheap on springs and pellets and loads of other stuff. bruno22rf
If the gun fired and the barrel remained in place then it can only be the cocking arm or maybe the shoe that fits on it.
Theskyfox
Thanks for all the responses. Glad to know its nothing major - I did think it was a bit strange. I don't heavily use it and always oil/properly store it before putting it away. I'll let you know how much the gun shop charge...I'm just hoping I don't get ripped off. -Andrew
bruno22rf
If the gun is being serviced then I would expect to pay for the part only-its a 30 second job to fit-only my experience but I wouldn't let those guys service a water pistol. Someone else with experience of their workmanship? I only ever sent one gun to them. Never, ever again! Better to screw it up yourself than pay them to do it. bruno22rf
Many years ago, after having saved for ages, I bought a second hand Original 6M to use at a local club. As I had spent so much on the gun I paid these guys to service the pistol as the internals looked a bit delicate from the diagrams I had. Sent away my pride and joy along with a cheque and received the gun back several weeks later (along with a test target). The gun was completely broken and would not even cock! Still unsure to this day how they managed to fire the gun as it had been assembled incorrectly and was unusable .

Theskyfox
Yeah its the airgun centre in Rayleigh. They are the nearest RFD to me and I need the gun working, so I've had little choice to go anywhere else at the moment. I've got a horrible feeling that I'm going to get ripped off now... -Andrew Edited January 26, 2014 by Theskyfox
washerboy
Paid extra for a tune when I bought a hw95 from them, not sure if they did anything but take my £45. Spring was still the usual Germany battleship rough, it was still kicking out smoke. Also they said it was doing 11.5ftlbs with barracuda match pellets. I tested it with a these and as I expected it was about 9 ftlbs with the heavyweight ammo.
