TIGHTCHOKE
At a guess it may well be the wad type!
jimmyb79
Shot size and wad? Trap = 7.5 plastic wad Sporting = 8 fibre wad Skeet = 9.5 plastic wad Edited January 30, 2014 by jimmyb79
figgy
Shot size is all as only the sporting come in fiber as well as plastic wad due to some land restrictions on plaswads. You can use any size you want for any shooting discipline and many do,but no9s will struggle on trap targets. remmyman
6 shot is the largest that can be used in a CPSA Reg comp as far as I'm aware, and 9's through 3/4 or full choke will absolutely 'smoke' DTL targets in my experience. HDAV
Worth checking the velocity if looking for differences. Some like eley firsts come in 28g/24g, (21g are "lites") 7.5/8/9 sizes and 2 wad types but are all "firsts" here they seem to have named each size. Guest cookoff013
its usually the speed thats different, although there seems to be a trend of 1400fps for everything. the shell standards are quite high thesedays, even the club shells and semi serious comp shells are decent. dr. lecter
all shells are more consistent than me, but I don't believe half of their sales hype , speed , quality of shot etc etc , one thing for sure they all want high production numbers and a large profit margin . 88b
Very good point dr lecter. I find now I use Gamebore steel 24 g 9's for skeet in my Miroku and anything cheap for sporting and my older guns that need lead.
