Dead-Eyed Duck
Settle an argument please - will a shotgun with 26" barrels throw the same pattern density with a full choke as the same model gun in full choke but with 30" or 32" barrels? That is assuming that the same cartridges are used.
Big Mat
Well in theory yes, full choke is full choke no matter what length barrel it comes from!
HDAV
Well if the patterns aren't the same then they aren't both both "full" choke the constriction at the muzzle required to throw a "full" pattern can be very different. Also it is cartridge dependant "full" means 90% of the shot falls in a 30" circle at 25 yards iirc
poontang
The simple answer is NO. However, you would never be able to tell the difference in real life, so for all intents and purpose YES.
jayDT10
I had people try to tell me that long barrels will kill further than short barrels, barrels don't come into it , it's about choke and cartridge , also no choke of a different brand will throw the exact same pattern. Different cartridges perform better in different chokes , long barrels may give you better point ability on longer targets but won't smash any better than short barrels with the same choke and shell
Hamster
The affect of constricting the shot charge is imparted during the last couple of inches so there will be no difference. In theory the velocities may vary by a minuscule amount assuming identical internal measurements but that in itself won't make a measurable difference to the spreads either. wymberley
If your definition of full choke is incorrect and is a measurement, then possibly .'no'. Should it be correct and be a performance, then the answer is, 'yes'.
