tweedledee
guys i recently bought myself an absolute peach of a browning ultra trap.black action with gold writing. i shoot sporting mostly and someone mentioned to me that the trap gun had a very low stock.now the timber is immaculate and matches the fore end wood perfectly which is stamped with the gun serial number.the wood has original finish .today i took the heel pad off and i would swear it has never been off before. everything matched perfectly and shows no signs whatsoever of ever being off before let alone changed..... my question is?? is it possible that a trap gun would come with a sporter style stock from new if it was ordered that way??? i dated the gun and it was made in 2001...it is in unfired condition
V8 90
It doesn't look low to me - do you see plenty of rib when you shoulder it ? Nice looking gun
tweedledee
no to be honest...i myself prefer the lower sporter stock. thanks,it is an absolute peach.one dealer here offered me 600 for it the other night lol...presently looking to change it to something else... another guerini...maybe

Gordon R
I had a similar trap gun - MK3800. Stock was unaltered but definitely low for a trap model. When I traded it in, Laurence - at Bamfords commented on the low stock. I believe this gun is worth way more than the £600 offered.

bakerboy
I have the same gun (32" barrels), which I have had since new and it has to be over 20 years old, cannot remember when I purchased it. I don't recall seeing any of the guns I looked at having a recoil pad as is fitted to your gun, mine still has the original Browning plastic heel. It is a lovely gun that will stay with me for a long time to come. I hope you enjoy yours. Edited February 16, 2014 by bakerboy

HDAV
Trap pad trap forend looks very much to be a trap gun.i think if you put it next to a sporter the comb will be higher on that than a sporter. I just compared a 3800 trap to a 525 sporter and the trap has significantly less drop to the comb
tweedledee
On the other side of the action it has trap ultra.defo a trap gun.are all stocks cut a standard dimension or are they all different
Gordon R
I always thought that stocks for the same model would be the same. Over the years I have picked up many trap Browning / Mirokus and found a degree of difference in comb drop.

I bought a new Browning GP Trap 32" M/C last week - I had 2 other Browning Trap guns & a Miroku laid out side by side & they all looked the same but each 1 felt & mounted different. PhilR
I always thought that stocks for the same model would be the same. Over the years I have picked up many trap Browning / Mirokus and found a degree of difference in comb drop. In the late 80's/ early 90's stocker Malcolm Jenkins was brought in by the Browning group to design the Browning GTI trap gun and it appeared with a higher comb and a palm swell. He was also involved with the Winchester 6500 & 8500 trap guns. I guess the idea of a higher comb was also implemented on the MK38 which replaced the 3800. After all it is a lot easier to reduce the height of a high comb than increase the height of a low comb, don't forget this was before the adjustable comb had been invented.
