archi
So does anybody know the pressure of these 3" cartridges? Am I right in thinking the 32g 3s are still classed as HP? Is this a pressure thing or just a shot size issues as larger than No 4? Cheers Archi
Guest cookoff013
HP is the classification, the pressure could still be below 740bar. (but most likely not.) i`m lead to believe 4mm is HP criteria. maximum choke of 1/2.
Dangerous Brian
Maximum shot sizes in standard steel are 4's in 12 gauge and 5's in 20 gauge. Bigger than that and it's HP. From what I remember of the CIP regs the shell length is also limited to 70mm for standard steel (that bit needs confirming).

Where did you get the bit about being different for 12 and 20?
Guest cookoff013
you can actually have 70mm HP steel. - straight from the CIP regs.

archi
Well just spoken to Eley and they said that can be shot through 3" proofed gun and that the pressure are well below the HP rating by CIP.

I've been using them in a 36gm 3s load, and they're good...very good. They can be a bit difficult to get hold of by all accounts, but if Eley can get them to the suppliers I reckon they're onto a winner with this one. Dangerous Brian
the size is 3.25mm, english 3. Where did you get the bit about being different for 12 and 20? It was a CIP data sheet I found on the internet a few months back. I have just tried to find it again with no luck. However, in the process I came across some information published by the BASC stating max shot size of an English 6 for standard steel in 20 bore! That isn't going to be much help when most commercial 20 bore steel shells seem to be loaded with 5's. you can actually have 70mm HP steel. - straight from the CIP regs. Wouldn't doubt it for a second given the vast array of limits put on standard steel.
B525 LIGHT
They exceed on speed not pressure. Whatever you do don't exceed on pressure. speed wont blow your gun up but pressure will. They aren't as fast as they claim either. Also the 1's are loaded with 3.8mm shot which are 2's to everyone else. I wouldn't push them too far on geese 2's at 1600fps will penetrate similar to lead 4's at 1400 fps.

dodeer
Can you use the 32g 70mm through an old B25 900kg proofed gun?
