Hello from Herefordshire

Hello everyone, my name is Trevor and my addiction is shooting, and as often as possible. Please don’t try to cure me, it’s been a lifelong affliction and I love it…

Joking aside, good to find the P.W and looking forward to enjoying the discussions here. Grew up in South Africa, moved to Herefordshire end ’86. I remember the wide open spaces S.A had to offer and the game, but there is something unique about setting up a hide, sandwiches, flask and a dog and enjoying a day’s pigeon shooting with a mate, some of the best shooting memories…

Cheers, Trev

Hello and :welcomeani: to P.W ,bet you miss the temperatures out there and freedom of gun ownership compared to UK , I know another shooter lives in Ross on Wye moved here from

S. Africa and he was telling me of some of the guns he had there and he did some years in the S. African army too .

Hi welshwizard, certainly at the moment, all this rain not great for getting around, not to mention soaking your kit. Firearm controls are much easier in S.A, most folk don’t have much difficulty if it’s for sporting use, home - self-defence use, little more tricky. I’m not too sure how it is now.

We were remote, farming about 30 miles east of Pretoria. Shooting and fishing was very much part of life. We lived off our own grown fruit, veg, dairy and meat. Good life but hard at times as drought was common. You can’t beat the U.K for so many reasons, I wouldn’t go back other than for occasional holiday. :) I wonder if your friend agrees.
