yidoharry
Hi guys.......I just wanted to share a few words on here regards my first outing at A1 Shooting ground in Borehamwood. After I put a post titled "missing so many birds" on the forum so many of you were kind enough to lend your advice and tips to me. A large amount suggested that a trip to clay shooting ground would stand me in good stead and after some deliberation and a gentle nudge from "wabbitbosher" (thanks for that) I decided to get in contact with "Bakerboy" and I can honestly say it's probably the best decision that I've made in my fledgling shooting career!! I arrived there with many questions and left not only with all the answers but a massive amount of confidence, not too mention a rather cheesy grin!! Bakerboy was, from the start, very approachable and easy to get on with and clearly has bundles of knowledge when it comes to all aspects of shooting. From me mounting the gun for the first time he spotted in a flash that the gun was a tad short and got he's trusty tool box out and added a half inch to the stock which ensured a snug fit. Then spotted that my positioning of the gun was incorrect and explained in simple terms where and why I should re-position it. Once we'd gone through this we headed out to the clay ground and started on a simple clay shot....form there the hour and half I spent banging away at various clays was so enjoyable and I learnt such a huge amount which can only make me a better shot when it comes to live quarry. I left there after a nice cuppa at the end, grinning from ear to ear, at what I achieved knocking down a fair few clays and knowing that I will be going back very soon. Thanks Terry for a great morning, your a credit to A1 shooting ground and a true gent!

Bird Man
Agree Terry is a nice bloke and A1 shooting ground is a good local club. As for the coffee I agree they make a proper Cuppa....good luck with the shooting and do a few more sessions as you will find your shooting will go from strength to strength.... Brad93
How much did it set you back if you don't mind my asking? I could so with a lesson or two
Cosd
Terry aka Bakerboy is a top guy who is passionate about the sport and a great coach. Well done for taking advice and going to a coach, the confidence alone will do your shooting no harm whatsoever. Now to put it into practice
yidoharry
How much did it set you back if you don't mind my asking? I could so with a lesson or two £32.00 for 100 clays..... they have 13 stands with two different clays so effectively you have 26 different shkts to take, well worth it, a nice place to shoot too. Such simple adjustments but I know its going to make a massive difference, I will no doubt be posting what happens on my next outing whether its good, bad or average!! ShropshireSam
Good to hear you have gained the confidence as this is the main factor once you have the right gun fit and mount. What I find is that I can have a cracking lesson on the clays and then not continue so well with the pigeons. The important thing is to keep practicing on both and the more variety of shots you get then the better you will get.

Forgot to ask, what are you doing about the stock length issue?
bakerboy
I corrected it properly, I found a pallet block and super glued it in place. "Job Done"
