Cranfield
Any of our freshwater fish that are predators like pike, perch, zander, trout etc , taste good. Its the bottom feeders, like bream, tench etc that taste muddy. However, a pike doesn,t want to be bigger than about 8lbs, or their flesh has an"ammonia" type taste. Be careful where you get them from. Most of the freshwater in the UK is owned by someone, or the fishing rights are. Its very unusual for owners, to permit the removal of any fish (apart from trout waters). It is against EA regs to remove live fish, without an EA permit. Teal
I have the best pike lure possibly ever invented. I caught 30 2-5lb pike (perfect cooking size) in 2 hours. Most things used to work, red is the key with pike, we even had some old spoon lures that were bronze and simply painted one size red with red nail varnish (lol it had to be waterproof) and this also worked pretty well. Try stir fried pike it takes some beating if you do it right :yp: This was in fermanagh which I'm sure some as some of the lads here will tell you is stuffed full of pike, this was on Upper Lough Erne.
