zipdog
last time I drove the freelander 2 there was no problems at all. Today when I started her up she is making a strange grinding and screeching noise that appears to be coming from belts and pulleys.Below is a video of the car making the noise, do you guys have any ideas as to what could be wrong. Many thanks sorry for the delay here is the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z6qtlrREg0U&feature=youtu.be Edited April 5, 2014 by zipdog

B725
It may be the air con but from an 11 second video clip your replies are only going to be a guess I would let a garage look at it for you,you could do a search on freel2.com
zipdog
Ah thanks, a few people have said it might be air con, I didn't want to run the engine for very long to prevent doing any more damage!
firdom
Hi get on to freel2.com you will get all the info and sound advice allot of knowledge over there
armsid
going by the noise it could be a tensioner bearing or as said air con pump needs checking asap
BRYAN3
Could it be the crankshaft pulley? I had that on a FL1 at the same time of clutch failure. I asked the garage to investigate thinking it was likely to be a dodgy exhaust bracket or something cheap. They phoned me when work started to say crankshaft pulley and only available from LR £205.00. Good luck. Bryan.
drnobsac
sounds like a "metallic"noise, belt tensioner?

zipdog
Got the car back from the garage today! Turns out it was the alternator pulley that had broken, lucky it was a relative cheep fix! Cheers for all your help!
955i
If its a Freelander it could be the engine running, a noise not generally associated with Landies Sorry, I will get my coat.....
