Archie-fox
Afternoon all I'm about to fill a 243 slot on my ticket and looking at either a x-bolt or tikka T3 I have a uk Gunworks tikka T3 in 223 and it's awesome but as this will be my occasional deer rifle and odd fox I don't want to go down the route of customising it like I did with my T3 so just looking at the standard rifle.. Any views from the pigeon watch crew?? I like the idea of the fluted barrel and stainless on the X-bolt but the T3 in my opinion needs tweaking to get the best out of them..as in a new shroud and such.. Rich. steve_b_wales
I have a T3 Lite in .243 and it's excellent. Accurate straight out of the box.

Old melv
Had the same decision to make in .308 opted for the tika but in the end up dropped on a cheap new styer pro hunter.
Jesse James
Browning X bolt for me, due mainly to Dura coating and Bolt unlock safety feature. as well as fluted barrel. as said straight out of box accurate rifle. Little more money than the T3 but I for one preferred the build quailty and looks.
bullet boy
Love my Tikka T3 in .22-250 Rich and wouldn't change it for an X Bolt. My bud Eccles uses an X Bolt in .223 and he likes that but over the 2 I've seen I prefer the Tikka but that's my opinion .
Blunderbust
I have both, there is not a lot between them and they are both reliable and accurate enough for my hunting needs.
stan68
had a t3 and sold it to buy an x-bolt whilst it was a good rifle it wasnt in the same league as a t3 so I sold it and bought another t3 lesson learned!!
sako751sg
Both good rifles Rich and im thinking about getting the new X-bolt Varmint GRS SF.Gets a good write up although the majority of rifles now are well made and up to the job. njc110381
Both are good rifles. Pick up both and see which one feels right, then buy that one.
tedster
I handled an X-bolt synthetic, stainless today, It didn't suit me, it felt really small and a bit cheap.
mick miller
I've got the X bolt and it does the job. The trigger is an issue though, even with adjustment on it's lowest setting it still requires some fettling by a gunsmith I reckon to get the best from it. Tidy rifle though, accurate and does the job. I do like the safety and bolt removal button thingy, the magazine also is nice and compact. It doesn't feel particularly 'cheap' to me though, in some respects I prefer the stock over the Sauer synthetic my mate has, it's a hard plastic finish and doesn't feel as secure in the wet when firing.
