rowland75
Hi Im kind of in a similar situation and have been reliably informed to avoid the smk rifles. Definately if you can raise your budget as it seems £150 is a good starting point for a basic air rifle, but as many have said you only get what you pay for. SNAKEBITE
I had an old B2 and to be honest looking back I should have chewed my own legs off to have stopped me getting to the shop to buy it. At the time I thought it was brilliant . Just don't wast your money, please don't do it.

arnold
You'll do more harm with a chicken drumstick then a b2 carbine , keep with the bsa meteor, use you budget to service the bsa barrel seal, upgrade main spring and piston nylon head and o-ring. WeihrauchPower
ok thanks for that so what is it that makes a good air rifle?what sort of spec should i be looking out for? Build quality, full power and needs a good trigger. Don't forget if it doesn't look the part (ie.plastic parts, cheap looking finish to metal work) it generally won't perform that well. pin
Oh now come on, the B2 ain't all that bad. If you are out camping with it at least you won't need to take a mallet to bash the pegs in
naddan28
lol, to be honest you would probably be better chasing the bunnies with it and bashing them with the stock! Then attempting to shoot them! I would be a upset bunny thou if i did actually leave the world due to a B2!

Cyber
wish I still had my meteor, was my 1st rifle (wasn't a really old one though) think I bought it brand new around 6 years ago. could hit my mums washing line (the actual line) nearly every shot with open sights at around 20 yards lol! My mum used to go barmy though hehehe! Good luck with the rebuild
njc110381
I'd recommend the service too. These little seals and a spring will probably cost you less than a B2, and if you have a good read into springs first you may be able to up the power to a bit nearer 12ft-lbs at the same time
newboy
thanks for all the help guys i shall keep in touch as i progress through ? any good tips on servicing the gun and spring would be most welcomed. thanks
naddan28
thanks for all the help guys i shall keep in touch as i progress through ? any good tips on servicing the gun and spring would be most welcomed.thanks If unsure take it to a gunsmith. Also be espically mindful when it comes to removing the spring! Those things have huge amounts of stored kinetic energy, no matter how old the gun, waiting to be realeased! If your not careful you may act as a unwilling backstop. Springs are specialist items, if in doubt take it to a gunsmith or a exp friend.
